more secure world. Raytheon is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer
to provide unique packaging designs and engineering in support of
purchased parts and assemblies, manufacturing processes and
finished product outbound to our customers. Our products have a
wide range of size and complexity from thumb drives to the heavy
weight and oversized major end items of radars, shelters and
antennas. This position supports multiple major production programs
by creating and maintaining the packaging solutions supporting
preservation and shipment of deliverable products utilizing CREO
design software. This position manages multiple moderately sized
projects or processes with minimal oversight. It will also involve
supporting cost reduction, process improvement initiatives and
direct support of manufacturing activities on the production
floor.What You Will Do
- Develop thoughtful, effective, and innovative packaging
solutions to support the preservation and safe shipment of all
hardware. Package design types can include:
- Protective cushioned packs
- Corrugated structures
- Wood crates and assemblies
- Vacuum formed plastics
- Create packaging designs using CREO parametric software
- Initiate and bring to life cost reductions and process
improvements
- Routinely team with Product, Manufacturing, and Logistics
engineering along with Traffic, Safety and EHS to ensure
deliverables are achieved on time with value
- Plan, coordinate and execute Package Performance testing using
ASTM D 4169 and/or International Safe Transit Association (ISTA)
protocol
- Develop and maintain special packaging instructions and
drawings meeting Military and Best Commercial standards: MIL STD
2073 and ASTM D 3951
- Balance multiple projects and customers simultaneously in a
dynamic manufacturing landscape
- Support multiple business locations in the local New England
areaQualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology,
Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5
years of prior engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience with CREO, SolidWorks or other CAD
software
- Ability to obtain a secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship
is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security
clearance.Qualifications We Prefer
- B.S. Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with cushion curves and design
- Experience in understanding the varied distribution
environments and their influence on packaging design
- Experience with project and program management
- Proficiency in MS Office products
- Knowledge and experience meeting MIL STD 2073 military
packaging requirements
- Knowledge and experience building packaging to ASTM D6251 and
ASTM D5118
- Experience with package performance testing using ASTM D 4169
or ISTA testing protocols
- Certified ISTA lab professional
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Experience with shock and vibration testing and analysis
- Familiarity and/or certification shipping hazardous materials
and meeting CFR 49/IATA regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to

products.The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000
USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate
representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several
factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the
role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work
